Finally got some time to write post birthday celebrations!
Started the birthday weekend with just me and Winnie (my dog) and ended the weekend with most of my family. Shout out to my brother who flew in to surprise me for my birthday!
I started off the day with matcha, reflection on this past year, and all things self-care. It’s been a year of change to say the least.
Here’s how my day went 💜
☀️ morning: I made the decision to go to a workout class, buy myself some flowers, grabbed a smoothie, took Winnie on a long walk, and took an even longer and relaxing shower.
🌤️ afternoon: I went to pick up my parents from the airport after a whole month!
🌙 evening: Got my first cup of chai, did some flower arrangements, and got a surprise visit from my brother! Rest of the evening was spent chilling with the fam and catching up. (next day had a birthday brunch with more family 🤗)
Here are some things I would tell my younger self…💜
- Don’t give up things that bring you joy- my cup of chai
- Start Journaling- start by just writing a line a day or find prompts if you’re drawing a blank
- Prioritize your overall health- you’re getting older and you value your health on a different level
- Walking is the best way to get out of a funk (even on a walking pad)
- Less is more in all aspects of life
- Drink your water before your drink your coffee or tea in the morning
- Practice gratitude daily
- Be kind over being petty, and move on.
- If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
- Surround yourself with people who let YOU be YOU.
- Follow up on your friends and family
- You value the smaller moments of joy and peace than anything else
- Buy flowers every week to brighten up your home and mood
- Meditations calm you down and keep you aligned- stillness is whole new vibe
- Try different workouts until you stick to one that works for you and your lifestyle
- You are not what people’s perception of you is
- Cherish and make more memories with your parents. As you get older, they get older too
- Trust your gut over other opinions (it is your second brain, just saying)
- Everything happens for your benefit (it may not seem like it, but it all plays out perfectly)
- Comparing yourself to others is pointless - you both are not on the same chapter in life or on the same timeline
- You will get to a point if not already, to start putting yourself first
- Cancel the noise when making important decisions in life
- Put yourself out there and try new things
- Highlight your strength, embrace your flaws
- Accept where you are right now, and focus on where you want to go
- Self development is a journey not a destination
- You will fail many times, but what matters is how many times you get up
- Most days you enjoy your own company than with others
- Don’t assume what other people are thinking, especially about you
- Knowing your love language helps in bettering all your relationships
- Don’t wait for anyone else to do something (if its something you can do on your own)
- There is only one of you, so be YOU.
- Just do the thing that’s been on your mind- I finally started a blog
- Read for fun and read for knowledge
- Never say never…I moved out of a state I never thought I would move out from 😬
Let me know if any of these resonate with you, always open to hearing your thoughts as well!
